Softly
Softly

Softly

like rolling in BlueBand

like stirring in warm chocolate watching snow patter on a window

like earl grey sips on a grey afternoon, honey and lemon,

like realizing it’s raining outside and slumber claimed you,

like sinking into bed after a day weeding maize seedlings

like gliding on a slide in Thika and bloop splashing into cool waters

like holding your hand and feeling the wind with the other

as we drive through verdant Idaho fields, the Tetons ahead.
